Day Fifteen: Losing Patience

I feel awfully guilty that I lost my patience when talking to my mother tonight on the phone. Even though yes, her questions was annoying, it still shouldn't have warranted me snapping at her. And I wasn't as sympathetic to what she was saying. Why are we always the harshest to those we love? I think it's mostly because we know they'll still love us even when we're difficult and annoying and impatient. Still, I should have been better!

  1. Forgive yourself. I think we do this to those who will most likely understand. Mothers and daughters. Sometimes a joy and sometimes... That's love.

  3. I understand this all too well as my mom and dad are visiting me and my family for nine straight days. We just moved cross country and they wanted to make their trip out here “count”. I love them but just like I say about everyone, “Visitors are like fish. After about 3 days, they start to stink.” Give yourself some grace and apologize to your mom next time. Or just text or call now. She’ll understand.

    1. Thank you so much! I hope their visit has many more moments of joy and laughter than stress and the 9 days fly by. Yes, that's so true about visitors. It's so nice to see family and friends but 3 days really is perfect! I appreciate your kind words and advice, thank you! Have a wonderful Wednesday!!!

  4. Give yourself some grace. It can be hard not to snap. This slice of a snap is a great way to reflect on that snap!

  5. So compassionate of you to be aware so quickly of your own behavior. If you are generally in sync together, forgive yourself. If you often rub each other the wrong way, forgive yourself. If you have a history of a bad relationship with her, forgive yourself. If you have a long, solid loving relationship with her, forgive yourself. Forgive yourself.
